A two-car wreck on state Route 510 in Thurston County left one person dead and injured four others Thursday morning.

The collision occurred in the westbound lane around 6 a.m. near Nisqually Red Wind Casino, according to Trooper Robert Reyer and dispatch.

Medical aid transported five people from the scene to area hospitals, Reyer said. Two occupants of the vehicle that allegedly caused the collision suffered serious injuries. One of them, a juvenile, was pronounced dead, he added.

Three others, who rode in the vehicle that was struck, suffered minor injuries, according to Reyer.

Washington State Patrol, Washington State Department of Transportation and Lacey Fire District 3 responded to the incident, Reyer said.

Authorities initially closed the westbound lane of Yelm Highway, but he said they eventually closed the entire roadway for an investigation.

Yelm Highway remained closed at milepost 11 until about 10:20 a.m. when tow trucks removed the vehicles involved in the collision, according to Reyer.
