‘Significant’ traffic delays expected on Martin Way intersection Tuesday and Wednesday
Drivers passing through a portion of Martin Way East near Lacey can expect traffic delays starting on Tuesday.
Traffic revisions will affect the intersection of Martin Way and Duterrow Road from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, Feb. 28 and March 1, according to a Thurston County news release.
Traffic signals will shut down starting at 8:30 a.m. on both days, and Martin Way East will be reduced from two lanes to a single lane. Lanes on Duterrow Road and Meridian Road will be reduced to a single lane of alternating traffic.
During the revision, flaggers will direct traffic and motorists should expect “significant traffic impacts.”
Traffic signs will be turned on in the evening, the release says, allowing traffic patterns to normalize outside work hours.
The traffic revisions are needed to allow a private developer to conduct utility work for a new nearby development.
“We understand the revisions will cause some inconvenience, but they are necessary to ensure the safety of the workers and the public,” said Thurston County Traffic Engineering and Operations Manager Matt Unzelman.
The county asks drivers to follow posted speed limits and drive cautiously in work zones.
