Traveling to Elma or the ocean? Expect round-the-clock delays on State Route 8
Those traveling on State Route 8 between Thurston County and Elma should expect delays over the next few weeks as road crews shut down lanes around the clock.
Construction crews began adding lane markers to new road surfaces Thursday morning. Closures will take place on the left lane of eastbound SR 8 in Grays Harbor County; left or right lane closures in Thurston County; and left lane closures on westbound SR 8 between US Highway 101 and Winslow Drive.
At single-lane closures, travelers should slow down and pay attention to directions on site. If drivers are in a hurry, they are advised to find and use alternative routes.
