More closures are coming to this I-5 exit, other roads in Tumwater this week

The southbound Interstate 5 ramps at Exit 102 in Tumwater will be closed at night this week for the next step in one of the city’s largest road projects. The closures will last from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 14, through Friday, Aug. 18.

The exit, which takes drivers to Trosper Road Southwest, needs to be closed for pavement work on Tyee Drive and Trosper Road, according to a news release from the City of Tumwater. Motorists will be directed to detour to Exit 101 to Tumwater Boulevard, or Exit 103 to Deschutes Way Southwest. Littlerock Road is the detour for Tyee Drive.

Traffic on Trosper Road also will be shifted using lane closures throughout the week to allow crews to work on the roadway at night. The work is part of the city’s 2023 pavement maintenance project, as well as the city’s interstate corridor project.
