Lane, ramp closures coming to these portions of I-5 in Thurston County this week
Drivers should expect detours and possible delays this week if they’re traveling through Thurston County. Crews will be shutting down lanes and ramps of Interstate 5 in Tumwater and Grand Mound to repair the road surface from Tuesday, Oct. 3, to Thursday, Oct. 5.
According to a news release from the Washington State Department of Transportation, the right lane of northbound I-5 at Exit 88 and the northbound I-5 exit to U.S. Highway 12 will close from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 3.
On Wednesday from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., the right lane of northbound I-5 will close again at Exit 88, as well as the U.S. Highway 12 on-ramp to northbound I-5. Travelers are asked to detour via Harrison Avenue at Exit 82 or Maytown at Exit 95.
On Thursday, Oct. 5, from 7:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., the right lane of northbound I-5 near 93rd Avenue Southwest in Tumwater will be closed.
The work is scheduled during the day because driver behavior is generally safer, and crews can more easily be seen, according to the release. The schedule is subject to change depending on weather conditions and other factors. Find the latest updates at the webpage WSDOT closures and projects online.
