Drivers on Mullen Road Southeast in Thurston County should expect traffic delays from Monday to Wednesday due to road work.

The work will affect a stretch of road between Early Spring Drive and Afflerbaugh Drive, southeast of Long Lake, the county’s Public Works Department announced in a new release.

A contractor has been scheduled to “perform sewer connection and road improvement work” along Mullen Road, the release says. More specifically, that includes installing offsite sewer connections, restoring the road’s shoulder and grinding and overlaying the existing roadway.

During the schedule work period, the roadway will be reduced to one lane and flagging staff will direct drivers through the area. The public also can expect to see reader boards along the roadway reminding them of the work and delays.

“Commuters are encouraged to allow extra travel time or consider alternate routes during this period,” the release says.

Anyone with additional questions about the lane closures can contact Becky Conn, Traffic Engineering and Operations Manager for Public Works, at becky.conn@co.thurston.wa.us or 360-867-2300.

The public can see up-to-date travel impacts and concerns via an online map on the Public Works Department website.
