Lane closures on I-5 near Pierce-Thurston line could lead to delays this weekend
Commuters might see delays on Saturday morning as road work will reduce Interstate 5 to two lanes approaching the Nisqually River Bridge near DuPont, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.
WSDOT bridge maintenance crews will reduce northbound I-5 to two lanes from 6 a.m. to noon on May 17, June 7 and June 21.
The single-lane closure allows crews to repair cracks and replace rivets on the northbound bridge, extending its lifespan, WSDOT said. The bridge was built in 1937, rebuilt in 1982 and repainted in 2014.
On average, 63,000 vehicles use the northbound I-5 Nisqually River Bridge every day, according to WSDOT.
The public can see real-time traffic information on the WSDOT app and online travel map.
