Semi-truck crash blocks all I-5 southbound lanes in Tumwater Friday morning
A semi-truck crashed into a barrier on Interstate 5 in Tumwater on Friday, blocking all southbound lanes.
The crash occurred at about 9 a.m. at milepost 104 near Custer Way Southwest, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.
In an X post, state trooper Kameron Watts said the driver of the semi-truck lost control while going around a curve on the wet roadway. The semi-truck then crashed into the concrete barrier that separates the north and southbound lanes. The semi-truck carried two unloaded trailers that blocked all lanes in the crash.
No injuries were reported, Watts said.
WSDOT advised drivers to use alternate routes or delay their travel until the road is cleared. Troopers and WSDOT crews initially diverted all traffic to U.S. 101, he said. In a later update, WSDOT indicated traffic was being diverted onto Second Avenue Southwest.
The truck was removed by 11:30 a.m. and all lanes were reopened by noon, per a WSDOT update on X.
