1 driver arrested after Thurston County crash closes SR-507 for 5 hours
A 24-year-old Graham woman, suspected of driving under the influence, crashed head-on into another driver on a Thurston County highway Tuesday evening, according to updated information released by the Washington State Patrol.
In addition to DUI, she also is suspected of unsafe passing and vehicular assault, according to the State Patrol.
She was injured and so was the 57-year-old Spanaway man she crashed into. Both were taken to Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia for their injuries.
About 6:15 p.m., the Graham woman was headed south in the northbound lanes of state Route 507 — she apparently was trying to pass another vehicle — when she crashed head-on into the Spanaway driver.
He was headed north at the time, according to the State Patrol.
Trooper Kameron Watts said via social media on Tuesday that a preliminary breath test for the Graham woman showed her blood alcohol content at 0.262. The Washington state legal limit is 0.08.
He also said she was arrested at the scene.
Following the crash, a section of SR 507 between Yelm and Rainier was blocked for five hours, according to the State Patrol.
