Two-vehicle wreck injures four Thurston County residents in Grays Harbor County

A two-vehicle collision injured four Thurston County residents in east Grays Harbor County Wednesday morning.

The collision occurred at about 9:30 a.m. at the intersection of Heise Road and state Route 8, which is between McCleary and Elma, according to a Washington State Patrol memo.

A 21-year-old Rainier woman in a 2021 Hyundai Sonata sedan allegedly struck a 2016 Toyota Camry sedan with three occupants, per the memo. At the time of the collision, a 31-year-old Olympia woman drove the Toyota westbound through the intersection, and the Rainier woman attempted a left-hand turn from Heise Road onto state Route 8.

A 68-year-old Olympia woman and a 44-year-old Tumwater woman rode in the Toyota with the 31-year-old Olympia driver, according to the memo. All three went to Summit Pacific Medical Center in Elma. First responders transported the 68-year-old Olympia woman, while the two others transported themselves.

The Rainier woman in the Hyundai reportedly opted to transport herself to medical treatment.

The State Patrol has accused the Rainier woman of second-degree negligent driving for failing to yield to the right of way. Drugs and alcohol were not involved, the memo states.
