I-5 wreck causes heavy traffic in Olympia during Thursday morning commute

A wreck slowed traffic on Interstate 5 between Lacey and Olympia Thursday morning.

The crash occurred at about 7:47 a.m. on southbound I-5 at milepost 108 which is near Sleater-Kinney Road Northeast, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation. The agency warned that two left lanes were blocked, but later cleared the collision as of 8:30 a.m.

Heavy traffic stretched to milepost 112 near Marvin Road just before 8:30 a.m., according to the WSDOT online Travel Center Map. The agency reported two other crashes on northbound I-5 near milepost 112 shortly after clearing the previous one.

In an X post, Trooper Kameron Watts said troopers were on the scene of the two additional wrecks. One was on an on-ramp and the other blocked a left lane on the highway.

Watts said there would be a brief delay as tow-trucks moved the vehicles.

WSDOT cleared the collision on the left lane of the highway at about 9 a.m., according to the agency's X account. The on-ramp collision was cleared by 10 a.m.
