Overnight I-5 ramp closures scheduled in Tacoma

Drivers won’t be able to get to southbound Interstate 5 from southbound Interstate 705 in Tacoma for several nights this week.

Crews will close the ramp at 10 p.m. Tuesday (Oct. 6) and Wednesday, reopening it at 6 a.m. the next day, the state Department of Transportation said.

The ramp also will be closed from 12:01 a.m. Saturday until 6 a.m.

The northbound I-5 exit to I-705 and state Route 7 will be blocked from 11 p.m. Thursday to 4 a.m. Friday.

The work is part of projects to build carpool lanes and help with congestion on I-5 through Tacoma.
