Super chill bison couldn’t care less about exploding Yellowstone geyser, video shows
A stoic bison didn’t care at all that an iconic geyser was exploding behind him, video shows.
A man visiting Yellowstone National Park on Wednesday, June 24, captured a beautiful video of a bison interrupting the view of the famous Old Faithful geyser, Storyful reported.
Watching the Old Faithful Geyser erupt is a tradition that people from all over the country travel to see Joey Krastel captured a stunning view of that eruption with an extra guest.
Thousands of bison roam the land in Yellowstone National Park, according to the Park Service. Last August the park counted more than 4,800 bison.
In the summer, bison are typically found in grasslands. It’s more common to see bison in the hydrothermal areas in the winter, according to the park.
Krastel, however, told Storyful a bison was rolling around in dirt nearby before it walked toward the geyser.
Tourists can watch Old Faithful erupt from a viewing area or boardwalks that weave around the geyser, NPS said. The bison positioned itself right between the geyser and that viewing location as if to give the visitors an opportunity for a stunning photo, the video shows.
The video shows the bison chowing down on some grass as the massive geyser starts erupting. The bison wasn’t fazed by the explosion at all.
“It was almost like he walked over to watch himself,” Krastel told Storyful. “He was harmlessly misted by the geyser and on such a warm day, it probably felt great.”
