Bags of a nationally sold dog food got recalled. Salmonella was found in the food

Testing at the state level found salmonella in finished Billy+Margot Wild Kangaroo and Superfoods Recipe so Real Pet Food announced a recall of 4-pound bags Tuesday.

Real Pet Food also stopped production and distribution of the Wild Kangaroo and Superfoods Recipe.

“Salmonella can affect animals eating the products and there is risk to humans from handling contaminated pet products,” the FDA-posted recall notice states.

Pets with salmonella might be sluggish, experience fever, diarrhea or vomiting. People with salmonella — the CDC says 1.35 million Americans get it each year, 26,500 get hospitalized by it and 420 die from it — usually get fever, stomachaches and diarrhea.
