Couple struck and killed by truck, Tennessee cops say. They were married only 48 hours
A couple married for less than 48 hours was struck and killed by a truck on Oct. 17, Tennessee police said.
Newlyweds Jessiah Plemons, 31, and Lillian Rose, 25, were driving on the Weisgarber Road exit ramp with Madison Davis, 23, just after 3 a.m. Sunday when their Dodge pickup left the roadway and struck a guardrail along Interstate 40, WIBR reported.
All three got out of the truck and were standing next to it when a Chevrolet pickup struck and killed them, according to the outlet. All three were pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Chevy was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, WIBR said.
Plemons and Rose got married on Oct. 15, WATE and WVLT reported.
“I think that’s what made it harder, is the fact that she was the happiest she’d ever been and it got taken away from her,” Rose’s cousin August McClelland told the outlet.
Plemons was raising his older sister’s 2-year-old and 5-year-old, while Rose had two children of her own, WATE said.
“Jess (Jessiah) was an incredible person with a heart of gold,” friend Chasidy Wardlaw told WVLT. “He absolutely loved his babies wholeheartedly. He fought for them and loved them fiercely. He helped so many people in so many different ways and was a true inspiration. I will never in my life forget him. The world needs more people like Jess. He will be missed beyond measure.”
The crash remains under investigation by the Knoxville Police Department, the outlet said.
