A student accused of calling in multiple threats to an Atlanta-metro high school on Monday has been arrested, Georgia authorities said. Investigators say it was part of a social media prank challenge.

Police were alerted to a possible threat at Newnan High School after someone left a voicemail warning about a school shooting set to unfold at 8:30 a.m., according to a news release. In a separate voicemail, the caller also mentioned “blowing up the school.”

The threats triggered precautionary lockdowns at Newnan High School, as well as Cougar Village and the Central Education Center, police said. Officers searched all three locations and determined there was no credible threat.

Police haven’t publicly identified the teen but confirmed they’re a student at Newnan High. It’s unclear what charges or disciplinary action they will face, if any.

Newnan is about 38 miles southwest of Atlanta.
