One lucky man took his lottery winnings and won much more than he anticipated, according to a Jan. 27 news release from the Michigan Lottery.

The 60-year-old from Wayne County initially won $500 on a scratch-off ticket.

Then he decided to invest in himself, again, at a CVS pharmacy.

“I won $500 on a scratch-off ticket and used the winnings to purchase a few Triple Million tickets,” the player, who chose not to be publicly identified, said in the release. “I scratched the tickets off when I got to my car, and I didn’t think I won anything but scanned them on the Lottery app to be sure.”

He won $1 million playing the Triple Million instant game, according to the release.

“When a message came up that I’d won $1 million, I was confused,” he told Michigan Lottery officials. “I looked (at) the ticket over again and that’s when I realized that I really had won $1 million. I couldn’t believe I missed it!”

The twice-lucky player recently collected his one-time lump sum of $693,000 from lottery headquarters and plans to invest, pay bills and save the rest, the release said.
