‘Masterpiece’ house once owned by John Glenn lists for $1.3M in Ohio. Take a look

The original ranch of late astronaut and former U.S. senator John Glenn has hit the real estate market in Columbus, Ohio, for $1.34 million.

The four-bedroom, three-bathroom home, called “a true masterpiece” in the listing on Realtor.com, sits on 1.15 acres with views of the Scioto River.

“This was originally John Glenn’s home that he and his wife, Annie, built with renowned architect Woody Acock,” listing agent Margot Campbell said to Realtor.com.

The 3,789-square-foot has soaring ceilings with a combination of hard wood and carpeted flooring along with a unique floating staircase leading up to a chic loft area, the photos show. There is also a movie theater and a spacious garage.

“It’s a beautiful, sprawling ranch, and you just have tons of natural light that fills the house,” Laumann said to Realtor. “When you get inside and you see these 180-degree views of the water, it’s very impressive. The walls of windows really bring the outside inside.”

Outside in the tranquil yard, there’s a boat dock, stone patios, a landscaped waterfall and a workshop within the fenced yard, the listing says.

Glenn was famously known for being the first U.S. astronaut to orbit the Earth in 1962, his biography on Britannica said. He was in the Marine Corps and fought in World War II and the Korean War.

In 1964, he retired from the space program to run for a U.S. Senate seat in Ohio. He was elected as a senator in 1974. He died in 2016.
