Dogs chew up couple’s winning ticket, but Oregon Lottery salvages their $8 jackpot
When Rachael Lamet discovered her two dogs had chewed up a lottery scratcher ticket overnight, she thought it was a lost cause.
“For some reason we left the ticket on the ottoman and they decided it was delicious,” she said in an Oregon Lottery news release. “I went to bed and when I woke up it was eaten to the point that I thought it was unable to be checked.”
Her husband, Nathan Lamet, had other ideas.
“But my husband thought it was hilarious and someone might get a good laugh at at the very least,” Rachael Lamet said. “He said it’s for sure a winner.”
So the Salem couple sent the destroyed ticket and a photo of their two dogs, Apple and Jack, to the Oregon Lottery.
Workers there pieced the ravaged $3 Pharaoh’s Gold Crossword ticket back together — and discovered the Lamets had won an $8 jackpot, which has been mailed to them.
“That’s too funny,” Rachael Lamet said.
Apple and Jack are Alaskan Klee Kais, ages 11 months and 2 years, respectively.
“We are definitely getting more chew toys, they go through a lot,” Rachael Lamet said.”We love them, but they are crazy sometimes.”
