Woman walking dog forced into car at gunpoint and sexually assaulted, WA cops say
A 28-year-old woman was sexually assaulted after being forced into a car at gunpoint, Washington police said.
The woman was walking her dog at about 6:15 pm on Oct. 23 when an armed man forced her into a dark colored sedan, Chief Dan Yourkoski with the Normandy Park Police Department told McClatchy News in a statement.
Police said the man then drove her a “short distance away” and sexually assaulted her before letting her go.
“I think everyone who hears will be shocked. That’s really surprising and really scary that something so violent would happen while someone was walking at a normal time of day,” Robin Thomazic, a resident, told King 5.
The woman was “held captive for about 50 minutes,” police told KIRO. The woman and her dog were let go three blocks away after she started to scream.
Officers are searching the area for evidence and any surveillance footage, Yourkoski said.
Police ask anyone with information about the incident to call 206-248-7600, KIRO reported.
A suspect has not been identified or located, police said.
Normandy Park is about 10 miles south of Seattle.
