McDonald’s teams up with Minecraft for new ‘adult’ meal bag. Here’s what’s in it
McDonald’s newest meal bag is for Minecraft fans young and not so young.
The limited-time A Minecraft Movie Meal arrives Tuesday, April 1, at participating McDonald’s restaurants nationwide, the fast-food chain said.
It’s McDonald’s latest reimagining of the Happy Meal, but with a grown-up twist.
The meal bag is set to launch in time for “A Minecraft Movie,” in theaters April 4, and includes one of six Minecraft collectibles inspired by McDonald’s “most beloved” menu items and characters, and Minecraft lore, the restaurant’s website says.
They are:
- Big Mac Crystal
- Birdie Wings
- Fry Helmet
- Grimace Egg
- Soda Potion
- Zombie Hamburglar
The Minecraft Movie Meal also includes a choice of a Big Mac or 10-count chicken McNuggets, medium fries and a drink, McDonald’s said. The nuggets meal comes with a new Nether Flame Sauce made with crushed red pepper, cayenne and garlic.
Pricing information wasn’t immediately available.
“McDonald’s fans had already created a presence in the Minecraft game long before the opportunity to partner with the new film,” Jennifer “JJ” Healan, vice president of marketing, brand content and culture at McDonald’s U.S., said in a statement.
“What’s special about this campaign is that every component will feel recognizable to both fan bases — a true merging of the McDonald’s and Minecraft universes,” she said.
For younger fans, the Minecraft Movie Happy Meal comes with one of 12 Block World toys inspired by the new film.
