Trump Admin Blasts Joe Biden After DHS Employee Lauren Bullis Killed
After a Department of Homeland Security (DHS) staffer was killed in Georgia, the Trump administration placed blame on President Joe Biden‘s DHS.
In multiple social media posts Wednesday, the department pointed to suspect Olaolukitan Adon Abel, who became a U.S. citizen in 2022 when Biden was president. He was originally from the United Kingdom.
“This MONSTER was naturalized under the BIDEN ADMINISTRATION,” DHS posted to X, adding, “Under @POTUS Trump's leadership, we will NEVER stop fighting to remove monsters like this from our communities.”
Lauren Bullis, 40, was killed as she walked her dog in Brookhaven, Georgia, in the early hours of Monday. Bullis worked as an auditor for the agency’s Office of Inspector General and was among the victims in a string of violent attacks across DeKalb County, in which Adon Abel is accused.
DHS saw several replies to its posts, pointing out that if Adon Abel was naturalized in 2022, he likely received his green card in 2017 or earlier, potentially under the first Trump administration.
“The idea that Biden or his policies had anything to do with this is purely inflammatory political messaging divorced from any facts,” Aaron Reichlin-Melnick, senior fellow at the American Immigration Council, posted to X.
Newsweek reached out to the DHS for further comment on its posts via email Wednesday afternoon.
