A former corrections officer in Alaska will spend the rest of his life in prison after he was found guilty of killing his wife and their teen daughter in 2022, resulting in a prison sentence of 150 years.

Jalonni Blackshear's daughter, who's referred to as J.B., reported that she had been sexually abused in March 2022, according to a press release from Anchorage State Police. She did not say who had abused her at the time of the reporting, though Jalonni quickly became the suspect.

He then asked his wife, Raechyl Blackshear, to take J.B., 14, to the police station so that she could recant her accusation. Raechyl, 35, agreed and took the teen to the police station on April 3, 2022, which marked the last day that the mother-daughter duo were seen.

Concerns about their wellbeing grew when Raechyl did not show up for an appointment on April 15, 2022. Police officers then reported to the family's home, where they found Raechyl and J.B. dead in a bedroom after they suffered apparent gunshot wounds.

An investigation was launched into the killings and it was determined that Jalonni killed his wife and daughter on April 4, 2022, according to a press release from the State of Alaska Department of Law.

Jalonni reportedly left the state on April 6, 2022, and took the victims' phones with him so that he could send text messages in which he pretended to be them.

Before he flew out of the state, Jalonni reportedly sent a resignation letter to his employer, Alaska Department of Corrections. Police set out on a search for Jalonni and were able to track the phones to New York, where he was later arrested.

Jalonni was indicted on charges of first and second-degree murder, first-degree sexual abuse of a minor, first-degree sexual assault and incest on May 6, 2022.

He pleaded guilty on January 27 to first-degree murder in connection to his wife's death and second-degree murder for his daughter. Jalonni also signed an affidavit as part of a plea deal, which stated he acknowledged that he was the main suspect in the abuse case relating to his daughter. The rest of the charges against him were then dismissed.

On June 2, Jalonni was sentenced to serve 75 years in prison for each count and the combined 150 years sentences will be served consecutively, according to the State of Alaska Department of Law.

Following his sentencing, Anchorage Superior Court Judge Josie Garton said Jalonni managed to gain control over his family members due to their remaining silence. However, everything changed when his daughter reported she had been abused and he ultimately killed them, according to Alaska's News Source.
