Two town hall meetings have been announced for the Yelm area this week.

First, Thurston County Commissioner Rachel Grant and Yelm Mayor Joe DePinto invite residents to an Elected Officials Town Hall from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 20, at the Yelm Community Center, 301 Second St. SE. This event will discuss key issues affecting Yelm and the broader Thurston County community.

The Town Hall is an opportunity for community members to meet elected officials, ask questions, share concerns, and learn about upcoming projects and priorities. Discussions will focus on infrastructure, public safety, economic development and community services.

The event is free and open to the public. Attendees will have the opportunity to submit questions in advance.

Then State Sen. Jim McCune and Reps. Andrew Barkis and Matt Marshall are inviting 2nd District residents to a town hall meeting from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Saturday, March 22, to discuss issues, provide updates, and hear directly from constituents.

This meeting also will be at Yelm Community Center.

The three Republicans lawmakers — McCune from Graham, Barkis from Olympia, and Marshall from Eatonville — will provide updates on major legislative proposals that could make it to the governor’s desk this session and then take questions from attendees.

The 105-day legislative session is scheduled to adjourn April 27.
