County: Leave Easter Bunny, Mickey Mouse off your ballot
The Thurston County’ Auditor’s Office is asking voters not to write in joke names or the names of fictional characters on ballots for Tuesday’s election, according to a news release.
“Voters who don’t wish to vote for any candidate in a race should simply leave that race blank — their votes in other races will still count,” Auditor Mary Hall said. “Fake or joke ballot write-ins like Mickey Mouse and Goofy aren’t funny, and they cost taxpayers money.”
The Thurston County Auditor’s Office has produced a public service announcement regarding joke write-ins.
