Republican candidates will debate virtually on Wednesday evening
Republican candidates for lieutenant governor and attorney general will virtually debate one another Wednesday, as a precursor to the upcoming Aug. 4 primary election.
The Roanoke Conference, typically an annual gathering of moderate to conservative political activists and elected officials from across Washington state, will hold a double-header debate for the Republican candidates vying for the positions of state Attorney General and Lieutenant Governor. The debates will begin at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, and will be moderated by TVW’s Mike McClanahan.
Roanoke Conference President Todd Myers said in a news release, “These debates are an opportunity to have an open and invigorating exchange of ideas of how to make Washington a better place for all who call it home.”
The Lieutenant Governor candidates who will be debating are: Joseph Brumbles, Marty McClendon, Dick Muri, Bill Penor, and Ann Davison Sattler.
Those attorney general candidates debating each other on Wednesday are: Matt Larkin, Brett Rogers, and Mike Vaska.
A press release sent by the Roanoke Conference says that all Republican candidates for the two positions were invited to debate, talk about their policy priorities and “educate voters on what sets them apart from others.”
The debates are free to watch and will be streamed on the Roanoke Conference website. To watch, register on the conference’s website by typing in your first and last names and email address. You will then be given a confirmation code and on the day of the debates, sent an email with instructions on how to access the debate via Zoom.
