All Thurston County school district levies passing in Tuesday night count

Voters in the four Thurston County school districts seeking approval of property tax levies appear to have given districts their wishes.

All four replacement levies were passing as of Tuesday night’s vote count, and the county Auditor’s Office estimates there are just 750 more ballots to count countywide.

Countywide, voter turnout was almost 28 percent as of Tuesday night.

Here are the details:

Olympia School District

More than 68 percent of the nearly 14,000 people who cast ballots voted to approve the replacement levy.

The district was seeking a replacement levy that would be used for computer technology systems and other capital project expenditures to improve safety and energy sustainability.

The levy rate is between 92 cents and 98 cents per $1,000 of assessed property value between 2023 and 2026.

Tumwater School District

More than 60 percent of the nearly 8,000 people who cast ballots voted to approve the replacement levy.

The district asked for a replacement levy to continue support for capital improvements, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, safety and security systems, energy efficiency/site improvements, and improve instructional technology equipment and infrastructure.

The levy rate is 75 cents per $1,000 of assessed property value between 2023 and 2026.

Tenino School District

Nearly 57 percent of the more than 2,000 people who cast ballots voted to approve the levy.

The district asked voters to approve a replacement levy for safety, technology and school improvements, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, safety and security systems, energy efficiency/site improvements, and improve technology equipment and infrastructure.

The levy rate is $1.11 per $1,000 of assessed property value from 2023 to 2026.

Griffin School District

More than 62 percent of the more than 1,700 people who cast ballots voted to approve the replacement levy.

The district was seeking a levy that would be used for school property improvements, capital projects and technology.

The levy rate is 43-45 cents per $1,000 of assessed property value in 2023 and 2024.
