Yellowstone trespasser falls into ‘thermal feature’ at Old Faithful geyser, park says
A woman who allegedly entered Yellowstone National Park illegally Tuesday fell into a thermal feature, park officials say.
The woman was trying to back up to take a photo when she fell into a hot spring or fumarole at Old Faithful geyser inside the park, a park spokesperson told McClatchy News. She was life-flighted to Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center and had serious burns.
Park officials said they do not know which thermal feature the woman fell into, and the incident is under investigation.
Yellowstone National Park shut its gates to all park visitors in March, McClatchy News reported. No visitors are permitted to enter the park, according to McClatchy News.
