Lt. Gov. Denny Heck tests positive for COVID, will work remotely until cleared

Washington State Lt. Gov. Denny Heck has tested positive for COVID-19, according to a news release issued Monday.

The statement noted that Heck, 69, is vaccinated and has received a booster, and will follow all CDC and Washington State Senate guidelines for isolation until it is safe to return to the Legislature.

Heck, who is asymptomatic, will work from home until then.

“I am grateful to be fully vaccinated, boosted, and asymptomatic. I am also grateful for rapid test technology alerting me to the need to isolate, cutting the chain of transmission for the virus. I look forward to returning to the Senate chamber once cleared to do so,” Heck said.

The announcement was made on the 30th day of the legislative session, which marks the halfway point for the 2022 Legislature.
