100-year-old tree knocked down by strong winds

Bev Marcum/McMullen, owner of C&M Landscaping Nursery in Richland, stands next to an old corkscrew willow tree that fell sometime before they opened on Tuesday morning.

She estimates it was at least 100 years old — it was there when they opened the nursery 50 years ago and was large then. The tree provided cover for plants that grow in shade and a new tree will probably be planted in its place.
