The Fairhaven Chicken Festival is coming to Bellingham Saturday, June 18, but don’t bring your appetite.

This family-friendly festival is full of chicken-themed games, exhibits, entertainment and activities as well as a chicken show and costume contest for enthusiasts.

You won’t find any hot wings, fried chicken or chicken sandwiches at this festival, as they “would not dream of offering chicken to eat,” the event’s website states.

The event’s schedule includes a rubber chicken scavenger hunt throughout Fairhaven, live music, chicken-themed games, local food and art vendors, a carnival and the chicken dance.

For those wishing to participate in the chicken show or costume contest, registration is available online.

The event is also looking for arts and crafts vendors who make chicken-themed products to sell their work at the marketplace. Applications are open online.

The Fairhaven Association event takes place from noon to 4 p.m. at Fairhaven Village Green located at 10th and Mill.

Sponsors include Scratch and Peck Feeds, First Federal Bank, Galloway’s Cocktail Bar, and Redwood Group Realty.
