Snohomish company Allways Roofing faces an additional $442,654 in new fines following a Washington state Department of Labor and Industries inspection, the department announced Tuesday.

The inspection started last November after an L&I employee saw company workers on a Tumwater two-story building without fall protection. Because the company was already classified as a severe violator, inspectors monitored the job site daily, marking various violations.

L&I issued 11 new citations for ignoring fall protection protocol, inappropriate eye protection and a lack of worker training.

Allways Roofing has faced more than 100 safety violations in the last 10 years. The latest citations bring its total fines to more than $3 million since 2019. The foreman on the job site has been cited at least four times in the past, said Craig Blackwood, assistant director for L&I’s Division of Occupational Safety and Health.

“This company knows exactly what the rules are,” Blackwood said. “They’re blatantly choosing to ignore the rules, putting workers at serious risk of injury or death.”

The Olympian was unable to reach managers at Allways Roofing on Wednesday, but left a voicemail seeking comment.
