Two men were arrested and charged with murder after being accused of hitting a man with a skateboard and kicking him repeatedly, leading to his death days later from injuries, Washington police said.

On Aug. 7, officials responded to reports of an unconscious man “lying in a parking lot” in Spokane, according to an Aug. 16 news release by the police department.

After speaking with witnesses and reviewing security footage, officials determined the man was “likely struck with a skateboard causing him to fall to the ground, after which he was repeatedly kicked,” police said.

Investigators identified the suspects as Quentyn Tyndale, 18, and Justin Haylett, 19, the release said.

The men were arrested on assault charges Aug. 10, police said.

On Aug. 15, the victim died and the charges were upgraded to murder, the release said.

The Spokane County Medical Examiner’s Office will release the identity of the victim, police said.

Officials ask anyone with information about the case to call 509-456-2233.
