Washington state’s Legislative Building is going to get loud this Friday. Here’s why
The inside of the Legislative Building on the Capitol Campus is going to be filled with loud, percussive sounds most of the work day Friday, as crews conduct acoustic testing.
From 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Jan. 5, a crew of about 15 people hired by the Department of Enterprise Services (DES) will be inspecting the skylights and conducting acoustic testing in and above the House and Senate chambers, including the roof and attic space, and nearby utility rooms.
People who work in the building should expect loud, percussive sounds during the testing. Crews will be intermittently popping balloons to generate loud bursts of noise.
Workers should make plans with their supervisors to work elsewhere if the noise would be bothersome.
DES has contracted with Architectural Resources Group of Portland for this work.
Building tenants with questions should contact DES property manager Barbara Perry at 360-489-4420. For project questions, contact project manager Bob Willyerd at 360-810-0500.
