A man was robbed of his $5,000 necklace in a Lowe’s parking in Washington by a “kissing thief,” deputies said.

Now authorities are asking the public for any information about the incident.

The man was called over by a woman who was sitting in the backseat of a parked SUV on April 9 in Bremerton, the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office said.

He pushed his cart over to the vehicle, then she pulled him to the window and “began hugging and kissing him as he tried to pull away,” a video shows.

The woman tore off his necklace worth $5,000, deputies said.

Alyssa Lynne said in a Facebook post that her grandfather approached the SUV because the woman was asking for help. He could also hear a child crying inside the vehicle.

When he went to see what was happening, “she grabbed him and was doing the fake thank yous for him checking on her and the baby, and robbed him for his necklace,” Lynne wrote.

The necklace is a gold chain with a gold cross, and she said it’s special to her grandfather, who had been wearing it every day.

“He’s worked so hard for the things he has in life, and he’s truly a sweet old man,” she said.

She’s asking whoever took it to return the necklace to Lowe’s.

“Just give it to someone there and it will make its way to us. Make your wrong into a right,” she said.

In addition to the woman seen in the video, a man seen driving the SUV was caught on surveillance cameras.

Anyone who has information about this incident can contact authorities by emailing KCSOTips@kitsap.gov and referencing case number K24-003224.

Bremerton is about a 20-mile ferry ride southwest of Seattle.
