The ranking also includes the number of occurrences in the state, based on Social Security card application data.

WA’s most popular male names
The top boy names in Washington state in 2023 had hundreds of uses, with the number one name occurring 416 times. Here are the top 15:
- Oliver - 416
- Liam - 402
- Noah - 343
- Theodore - 331
- Henry - 293
- Mateo - 270
- James - 266
- Benjamin - 244
- Lucas - 242
- Ezra - 237
- Elijah - 229
- William - 229
- Leo - 221
- Owen - 221
- Daniel - 218
There are several biblical names included on the list, such as Ezra, Elijah, Samuel, Isaac and Ezekiel. Additionally, there were several names from big films over the past couple of years, including Luca (and alternately, Luka), Maverick and Miles.
Some noteworthy mentions include Hudson, Santiago, Rowan, Adriel and Atlas.
The last three names on the Top 100 for Washington are tied, with 76 uses: Jeremiah, Jude and Sawyer. Just one step above was another three-way tie: Archer, Ryan and Walker all had 77 uses.
WA’s most popular female names
The most common names for female babies had slightly less popularity than the males. The top two male names had more than 400 uses, while the top two female names had more than 300.

The top 100 female names includes a mix of more traditional names, such as Elizabeth, Penelope, Willow, Grace and Adeline, and more modern names, such as Juniper, Gianna, Nova, and Lainey.
There are also several names with multiple spellings, such as Amelia and Emelia, Madelyn and Madeline, and Zoe and Zoey.
The last three names on the list are tied, with 59 uses: Georgia, Julia and Rose.
