Pedestrian dies after being struck by bus in Grays Harbor County Thursday

A 33-year-old Aberdeen man died after being struck by a transit bus in Grays Harbor County on Thursday.

The incident occurred just before 7 a.m. on State Route 115 near Ocean City State Park, according to a Washington State Patrol press memo.

The bus driver, a 62-year-old Humptulips man, reportedly was driving north on the highway when he struck the pedestrian. The memo indicates the pedestrian was standing in the northbound lane of the roadway and died at the scene. The bus driver was uninjured.

Troopers closed the highway for several hours Thursday morning, Trooper Katherine Weatherwax shared on X. An image from the scene showed the transit bus parked on the right shoulder of the highway.

“Our hearts go out to all of those affected by this tragic incident,” Weatherwax posted on X.

The memo indicates no other people were involved in the incident. State Patrol listed the cause of the incident as “pedestrian in roadway.”
