Snoqualmie casino opens $400 million expansion. Here are 5 things to know
A Washington casino within about 70 miles of Olympia has a new upscale hotel, spa, sports bar and more.
The rebranded Snoqualmie Casino & Hotel celebrated the multimillion dollar expansion during a grand opening Aug. 8.
It “marks the beginning of a new era,” said Mary Lou Patterson, chief executive officer, in a news release.
Patterson described the facility as “a new destination filled with luxury, relaxation and fun-filled excitement.”
Here are five things to know about the expansion project:
The hotel’s design is culturally significant
The new 10-story, 210-room hotel is the roughly $400 million expansion’s cornerstone, casino officials said.
The design incorporates nods to Snoqualmie culture, including “a modern slant roof hotel design representing the original longhouses of the Snoqualmie Tribe’s ancestors,” according to a November news release.
The tribe owns the casino and hotel at 37500 SE North Bend Way in Snoqualmie.
The ‘destination spa’
The expansion includes MoonRise Spa, billed by casino officials as a “destination spa.”
It’s 9,500 square feet, according to Cumming Group, which oversaw the project and it includes an indoor pool, eucalyptus saunas and more, with services ranging from facials to “mineral body rituals,” according to the casino’s website.
The spa is open to hotel guests and the public, per the website.
The new sports bar has dozens of screens
Hawks Peak features “nostalgic sports memorabilia,” along with “upscale pub fare,” casino officials said.
It also has 66 television screens, according to casino officials.
In a video on the casino’s social media, someone can be heard jokingly asking Bender Cunningham, from 95.7 The Jet in Seattle, who was touring the expansion, “is that enough? Do we need one more?”
“One more,” he joked back.
The construction took years
Construction kicked off in 2022, according to a casino news release at the time.
In April, the Puget Sound Business Journal ranked the expansion as the 17th biggest construction project under way in the Puget Sound area, based on estimated cost.
Other features were added along with the hotel, spa and sports bar, including an entertainment and convention center with 2,000 seats.
The project created jobs
About 400 jobs were added because of the hotel, convention center and other expansion facilities, said Amanda Beltran, an advertising and public relations strategist for the casino, in an Aug. 12 email to The Olympian.
Snoqualmie is about a 70-mile drive northeast from Olympia.
