Powerball ticket sold in western WA misses $549M jackpot — but still wins big

A Powerball ticket sold in western Washington just missed the $549 million jackpot but still won big in a second-chance drawing, according to state lottery officials.

The ticket won $50,000 in the Double Play drawing held after the Powerball drawing on Saturday, Nov. 15, a spokesperson for Washington’s Lottery told The Olympian via email.

Double Play is a $1 add-on that gives Powerball players a second chance to win prizes.

The winning Washington ticket matched four numbers and the red Powerball in the Double Play drawing, according to the national Powerball website.

Where was winning Washington Powerball ticket sold?

The winning Washington ticket was sold at a 7-Eleven convenience store, 8214 NE Vancouver Mall Loop in Vancouver, the lottery official said.

Vancouver is about a 110-mile drive south from Olympia, near the Oregon border.

What were winning Powerball, Double Play numbers?

The winning Double Play numbers were 8, 25, 46, 51 and 58, with a red Powerball of 19, the Powerball website said.

No one won the Double Play jackpot, which was $10 million, or the second-tier prize of $500,000 in the drawing on Saturday, Nov. 15, according to the Powerball website.

The winning numbers in the Powerball drawing on Saturday, Nov. 15, were 6, 7, 12, 47 and 53, with a red Powerball of 21.

No one took home the jackpot, but one ticket sold in Arizona and two sold in California won $1 million each.

Meanwhile, a ticket sold in Puerto Rico won $2 million.

The odds of winning the Powerball and Double Play grand prizes are both 1 in 292,201,338, according to the Powerball website.

When is the next Powerball drawing?

The next Powerball drawing will be held at 7:59 pm Pacific Time on Monday, Nov. 17.

What’s the current Powerball jackpot?

The Powerball jackpot is an estimated $570 million, with a cash value of $266.9 million, the Powerball website said.

What to know about Powerball

Powerball tickets are sold in 45 states, plus Washington, D.C., the U.S. Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.

Players may choose their own numbers or have them randomly selected.

“The jackpot is won by matching all five white balls in any order and the red Powerball,” according to the Powerball website, which noted that “the Powerball jackpot grows until it is won.”

The Double Play jackpot is always $10 million.
