Thursday's Prep Roundup: Sedro-Woolley baseball team falls to Lynden Christian

SEDRO-WOOLLEY - The Sedro-Woolley High School baseball team fell to Lynden Christian 5-4 on Thursday in a Northwest Conference game.

The Lyncs overcame a 4-3 deficit with a run in the fifth inning and one in the seventh.

Sedro-Woolley's Treyson Plymale was 3-for-4 with two RBI, Bryson Friedrichs 3-for-3 with an RBI, and Ryder Arellano 2-for-4.

Only three of the Lyncs' five runs were earned as the Cubs committed three errors.

The Cubs are 5-5 in conference and 9-5 overall.

LYNDEN - The Tigers beat the Lions in a Northwest Conference game.

Burlington-Edison's Cash Cullop was 3-for-4 with two RBI, Garrett Dehon 2-for-2 with two runs scored, Beckham Stallings 2-for-3 and Asher Moe 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Moe earned the pitching win, allowing seven hits and one walk over seven innings. He struck out three.

Burlington-Edison is 7-4 in conference and 10-4 overall.

Mount Vernon Bulldogs 9,

Meridian Trojans 0

BELLINGHAM - Mount Vernon pitchers Brady Collins, Gunnar Rindal and Carson Wilms combined to shut out the Trojans in a Northwest Conference game.

Collins allowed two hits over four innings, striking out eight and walking one.

From the plate, Mount Vernon's Bode Webb was 3-for-4 with two doubles, a triple and three RBI, while Collins was 2-for-4.

Mount Vernon is 8-0 in conference and 12-1 overall.

EVERSON - The Seahawks beat the Pioneers in a Northwest Conference game.

Anacortes is 6-3 in conference and 9-5 overall.

LA CONNER - The Braves beat the Wolves in a Northwest 2B/1B League game.

La Conner is 2-2 in league and 3-6 overall.

LYNDEN - The Cubs beat the Lions in a four-inning Northwest Conference game.

Sedro-Woolley's BriEllen Kononen went 4-for-4 with a double, home run, four runs scored and two RBI, while Peyton Brownfield was 3-for-4 with four RBI.

Reagan Evans, Veanna Lanphere and McKenna Lewellen were each 2-for-4.

Cubs pitcher Kasandra Gonzalez allowed one run, one hit and struck out nine in four innings.

Sedro-Woolley is 6-0 in conference and 10-2 overall.

Tuesday's weather-shortened game against Ferndale will not be continued, giving Sedro-Woolley a three-inning win.

Cubs' pitcher Kasandra Gonzalez threw a perfect three innings, striking out all nine Golden Eagle batters she faced.

BURLINGTON - The Tigers beat the Trojans in a five-inning Northwest Conference game.

Burlington-Edison's Stella Kowalski was 3-for-3 with a double, Peyton Locke was 2-for-3 with three RBI, and Abby Herrgesell was 3-for-4 with an RBI.

Tigers pitcher Annalyn Rogers allowed three hits and one walk over five innings. She struck out two.

Burlington-Edison is 6-0 in conference and 8-2 overall.

Anacortes Seahawks 20,

Lakewood Cougars 4

ANACORTES - The Seahawks beat the Cougars in a five-inning Northwest Conference game.

Anacortes' Hayden Davies was 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, two runs scored and three RBI, while Amelia Myers was 2-for-3 with a run scored and three RBI, and Joy Evans 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI.

The Seahawks led 7-4 before scoring nine runs in the third inning and four in the fourth.

Anacortes' Evie Hanes earned the complete-game pitching win. She gave up four hits, three walks, and struck out eight.

Anacortes is 4-3 in conference and 7-5 overall.

LA CONNER - The Wolves beat the Braves in a Northwest 2B/1B League game.

La Conner is 2-1 in league and 3-3 overall.

MOUNT VERNON - Seven Mount Vernon players scored as the Bulldogs cruised to a Northwest Conference win.

Mount Vernon had goals from Zekiya Morrison, Andrew Zuniga, Elijah Natekin, Yuri Gross, Alfredo Pantoja, Jake Robertson and Von Franulovich.

And defensively the Bulldogs were solid.

"The defensive unit continued its consistent form," Mount Vernon coach Behr Ibarra said. "Jake Robertson, Carlos Ramirez, and Von Franulovich anchored the back line with disciplined and organized play."

The Bulldogs are 8-1-1 in conference and 8-1-1 overall.

Burlington-Edison Tigers 5,

Nooksack Pioneers 1

BURLINGTON - The Tigers defeated the Pioneers in a Northwest Conference match.

Burlington-Edison's Chris De La Mora, Eddie Cortes Garcia, Taven Clancy, Rylan Lockwood and Jaxon Stewart had goals.

"This was a solid win for the Tigers, controlling the game for all 80 minutes, creating sustained possession and dynamic passing," Burlington-Edison coach Ryan Kuttel said.

The Tigers are 4-5-2 in conference and 4-6-2 overall.

Sedro-Woolley Cubs 7,

Mount Baker Mountaineers 2

DEMING - The Mountaineers were no match for the Cubs in the Northwest Conference game.

Sedro-Woolley's Wyatt Tyra had three goals, Carson Kelley two, and Carter Parsons and Wilmer Lopez one apiece.

Sedro-Woolley is 2-5-4 in conference and 2-6-4 overall.

ANACORTES - The Lions kept the sheet clean against the Seahawks in the Northwest Conference match.

Anacortes is 2-8 in conference and 3-9 overall.

Mount Vernon Bulldogs 1

MOUNT VERNON - The Cubs got the best of the Bulldogs in the Northwest Conference match.

The Cubs swept the singles matches as Ruby Hudson won 3-6, 6-3, 6-4, Jasmyn Burkhalter 4-6, 6-1, 6-4, Kylie Horkley 7-5, 7-5, and Junie Thompson 6-3, 7-6,(7-3).

In doubles, Sedro-Woolley's Chloe Larsen and Akira Spagnolo won 2-6, 6-2, 6-4, while Alexis Sanchez and Elise Schuyler won 6-4, 5-7, 6-4.

The lone win for the Bulldogs came from the doubles team of Diana Herrera-Garcia and Sarah Stewart (6-3, 6-4).

OAK HARBOR - Mount Vernon finished third in the eight-team match at Whidbey Golf Club.

The Bulldogs' Livi Burton was seventh with an 18-hole total of 92 while Molly Thompson was ninth with a round of 100.
