Mountain View High School student serves as page for state Sen. Paul Harris

MOUNTAIN VIEW - Daisy Conway, a junior at Mountain View High School in Vancouver, recently spent a week working as a page for the Washington state Senate at the Capitol in Olympia.

Conway was one of 25 students who served as Senate pages for the eighth week of the 2026 legislative session.

She was sponsored by Sen. Paul Harris, R-Vancouver, who represents the 17th Legislative District, which includes part of Clark and Klickitat counties, and all of Skamania County.

"Daisy was a hardworking page who we were honored to have this week," said Harris. "It is always great to see bright students like Daisy learning the Legislature and enjoying every step of its process. I believe she has a bright future ahead of her."

The Senate Page Program provides an opportunity for Washington students to spend a week working at the Legislature. Students transport documents between offices, as well as deliver messages and mail. Pages spend time in the Senate chamber and attend page school to learn about parliamentary procedure and the legislative process. Students also draft their own bills and engage in a legislative mock session.

"This is a program I would recommend to anyone interested in state government," said Conway. "I got to meet many people, including having lunch with my senator. If I had an opportunity to work here again, I would take it."

Conway, who is the daughter of Hong Conway of Vancouver, is 16 years old and enjoys figure skating. She applied to the Page Program to learn more about state government. She would like to attend college out of state and later attend law school to pursue her dream of becoming a lawyer.
