The following are criminal cases heard recently in Skagit County Superior Court:

ASSAULT

A 51-year-old Mount Vernon man was sentenced to nine months in jail Monday after pleading guilty to six charges, including second-degree assault with a deadly weapon.

According to court documents, the incidents for which Roberto Zuriel Lopez was charged occurred in 2009 and 2010.

The other charges Lopez pleaded guilty to were cyberstalking, second-degree reckless burning, harassment, fourth-degree assault and third-degree malicious mischief.

In exchange for his guilty pleas, Lopez had four other charges dropped.

ASSAULT

A 40-year-old Sedro-Woolley man was sentenced to four months in jail Monday after pleading guilty to two counts of third-degree assault and two counts of fourth-degree assault.

According to court records, Joshua L. Veit sexually assaulted several girls in 2023.

ASSAULT

A 32-year-old Blaine man was sentenced to 30 days in jail Monday after pleading guilty to third-degree assault.

According to court records, on Jan. 4 John Craigin Critchlow Jr. physically assaulted a woman in Mount Vernon.

In exchange for his guilty plea, Critchlow had a second charge dropped.

ASSAULT

A 30-year-old Mount Vernon man was sentenced to 364 days in jail Thursday after pleading guilty to two counts of fourth-degree assault.

According to court records, 334 days of the sentence imposed on Edwin Sotelo have been suspended.

Records state that on May 16, 2025, Sotelo pushed a woman. When police attempted to detain him, Sotelo resisted, and attempted to punch one of the officers.

In exchange for his guilty pleas, Sotelo had a third charge dropped.

MALICIOUS MISCHIEF

A 27-year-old Mount Vernon man was sentenced to 364 days in jail after pleading guilty Monday to third-degree malicious mischief.

According to court records, 359 days of the sentence imposed on Ethan Asher Dolph have been suspended.

Records state that on July 12, 2025, Dolph threw rocks through windows of a building in Mount Vernon and through a window of a vehicle.

In exchange for his guilty plea, Dolph had a second charge dropped.

RETAIL THEFT

A 35-year-old man was sentenced to 364 days in jail after pleading guilty Monday to second-degree organized retail theft.

According to court records, 354 days of the sentence imposed on Louis Martinez IV have been suspended.

Records state that on April 14, 2025, Martinez and a woman took seven bottles of alcohol from an Anacortes grocery store without paying for them.
