Monday's Prep Roundup: Tigers beaten by Bayhawks in girls' tennis match

BURLINGTON - The Burlington-Edison High School girls' tennis team lost to Bellingham 5-2 on Monday in a Northwest Conference match.

The Tigers two wins came in doubles.

Hazel Cosgrove and Macy Hendrickson won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1, while Sophia Shane and Kiera Taylor battled for a 7-6 (7-4), 2-6, 7-5 victory at No. 2.

Sedro-Woolley Cubs 4,

Lakewood Cougars 3

SEDRO-WOOLLEY - The Cubs edged the Cougars in the Northwest Conference match.

In singles, Sedro-Woolley's Kylie Horkley won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 3, while Jamie Thompson won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 4.

In doubles, Sedro-Woolley's Chloe Larsen and Akira Spagnolo battled for a 7-6( 7-5), 1-6, 6-2 victory at No. 1, and Cece Pompeo and Natalie Strech won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3.

Anacortes Seahawks 1

ANACORTES - The Seahawks fell to the Storm in a Northwest Conference match.

Anacortes' top doubles team of Carter Bowman and Claire Dekker won 7-6 (7-3), 4-6, 1-0 (3).

Mount Vernon Bulldogs 0

MOUNT VERNON -The Bulldogs were swept by the Lions in the Northwest Conference match.

Mount Vernon Christian Hurricanes 8,

Charles Wright Academy Tarriers 2

TACOMA - The Hurricanes defeated the Tarriers in a nonleague game.

Mount Vernon Christian's Josh Feddema was 4-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored and three RBI, while Nolan Wohlgemuth was 1-for-2 with a RBI.

Hurricanes pitcher Grady Woodmansee threw all seven innings, allowing three hits while striking out five and walking two.

Mount Vernon Christian is 15-3.

FRIDAY HARBOR - The Lions were no match for the Wolverines in the Northwest 2B/1B League game.

Concrete is 0-6 in league and 0-7 overall.

Girls' Golf

Northwest Conference

BELLINGHAM - Mount Vernon topped the eight-team field at Lake Padden Golf Course.

The Bulldogs had a five-golfer total of 535.

Molly Thompson tied for fifth with an 18-hole total of 100, while Lacey Cooley tied for seventh at 101.
