I-5 south reopens after crash north of Castle Rock

Southbound Interstate 5, north of Castle Rock, reopened at about 8:30 a.m. Thursday, after a crash and vehicle fire.

The crash happened near milepost 56 near the Cowlitz and Lewis County border and adjacent to exit 57/Jackson Highway, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

The Washington State Department of Transportation reported the crash at about 5:32 a.m. on X, and told travelers to expect delays until further notice.

A Toledo man driving a 2019 Ford F-550 swerved into the right lane at about 5 a.m., striking a semi, according to a Washington State Patrol press memo.

The Ford caught on fire and stopped in the southbound center lane, while the other vehicle stopped on the right shoulder.

Neither the driver of the F-550 - Kyle Bryan, 35 - nor the other driver - Davinder Singh, 48, of Auburn - was injured, the memo states. Both were wearing their seatbelts.

However, the Ford F-550 was totaled.
