Annual Parade of Bands returns to Hazel Dell on Saturday

May 16-Rain didn't dampen enthusiasm during Saturday morning's Hazel Dell Parade of Bands.

Onlookers lined Hazel Dell's thoroughfares as 23 marching bands from Clark County schools belted out "The Stars and Stripes Forever," "Seven Nation Army," "Holding Out for a Hero" and other crowd-pleasing tunes.

Retired band directors jointly served as grand marshals of this year's parade, which was the 60th. The parade took a two-year hiatus during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"Reaching 60 years is a huge milestone for this parade and the Hazel Dell community," parade organizer Brad Lothspeich said in a news release. "The parade was originally founded to give local school bands more opportunities to perform, and remains one of the only events in the region where more than half of area bands can march."
