PacificCorp to end public access to Swift Dam

May 19-PacifiCorp announced Tuesday that public access to Swift Dam will close Saturday. The Portland-based power company said the decision came after several instances of vandalism involving PacifiCorp equipment that is critical to fish collector operations. Ongoing security concerns and construction activities were also cited as reasons for eliminating public access.

The dam is not expected to reopen to the public for the remainder of the year. The public will still be able to access Swift Reservoir at Swift Forest Camp.
