The Seahawks fell to the Huskies on Saturday, May 16, in a matchup of third-place finishers from the Northwest and Central Washington district tournaments.

Othello moves onto the Class 2A State Tournament, while Anacortes finishes its season 17-8.

Archbishop Murphy Wildcats 0

The Seahawks beat the Wildcats on Wednesday, May 13, in the third-place game of the Northwest 2A District Tournament.

Anacortes and Archbishop Murphy were scoreless until the bottom of the fifth inning.

With a runner on second base, Anacortes' Wes Green was intentionally walked. Aiden Lefave then singled to give the Seahawks the lead.

Lefave was 2-for-3 with an RBI, with teammate Tyler Horton 1-for-2 with an RBI.

On the mound, Anacortes pitcher Gavin Byer allowed five hits in seven innings.

Softball

Archbishop Murphy Wildcats 10,

Anacortes Seahawks 0

The Seahawks fell to the Wildcats on Tuesday, May 12, in the third-place game of the Northwest 2A District Tournament.

Anacortes was held to two hits in the five-inning game - a double by Emery Collier and a single by Kaydence Lemmons.

The Seahawks committed three errors, which allowed the Wildcats seven unearned runs.

Anacortes finishes its season 11-12.

Lakewood Cougars 4

The Seahawks beat the Cougars on Tuesday, May 12, in a five-inning loser-out game of the Northwest 2A District Tournament.

Anacortes took an 11-run lead after three innings.

Amelia Myers went 3-for-3 with two doubles, a walk, four runs scored and an RBI; Gwen Andrews was 3-for-4 with a double, two runs scored and four RBI; Cora Myers 2-for-2 with a triple, two runs scored and two RBI; and Emery Collier 2-for-4 with three RBI.

Anacortes pitcher Kaydence Lemmons allowed four runs on three hits and three walks over 3 1/3 innings, while Evie Hanes pitched a perfect 1 2/3 innings.

Northwest 2A District Tournament

Vance Frerichs placed second Tuesday, May 12, with a two-day 155. He shot 82 in the second round.

"Vance's game is peaking at the right time," Anacortes coach Chris McKnight said. "He started with his best round of the year on Monday, shooting 1-over and sitting atop the leaderboard alongside Wyatt Brownell of Burlington. Tuesday, Vance started out a little rocky but was able to finish his round strong, going 2-over on the back nine."

Anacortes' Dex Hong tied for seventh with a 171 after his second-round 84, and Sledge Martinez was ninth with a 172 following his second-round of 83.

All three advanced to the Class 2A State Tournament on Tuesday, May 19, and Wednesday, May 20, at Tumwater Valley Golf Club.

Anacortes placed second as a team in the district tournament.

The strong district showing had McKnight optimist for the state tournament

"With a good state showing from these three we will hope to earn a top-three team spot at the state tournament in Tumwater," he said.

Northwest 2A Sub-District Championships

The Seahawks had a strong showing on the second day of the meet Friday, May 15.

Anacortes was first among boys' teams and tied for first among girls' teams.

The five-team meet was a qualifier for the Northwest 2A District Championships.

Anacortes had wins Friday from Austin Duchene in the boys' 200 (22.60 seconds), Owen Kennedy in the boys' 800 (1:59.84), Dylan Rowell in the boys' 3,200 (9:36.63), Lucas Roberts in the boys' high jump (6-2), Marlo Olson in the girls' 200 (26.73), Ashley Becerra Guzman in the girls' 3,200 (12:23.57), Elliot Davis in the girls' javelin (105 feet, 6 inches) and Teagan Littke in the girls' triple jump (32-10 3/4).

Anacortes also won the boys' 400 relay (43.32), the boys' 1,600 relay (3:23.47) and the girls' 1,600 relay (4:08.93).

On Wednesday, Rowell won the 1,600 (4:32.15), Maryn Gates the girls' 400 (1:03) and Alexis Johnson the girls' 300 hurdles (48.01).

The Seahawks' 800 relay team of Rowan Myers, Davis, Gates and Olson won in 1:47.08.

The Northwest 2A District meet will be Wednesday, May 20, and Friday, May 22, at Lakewood High School.
