The following are criminal cases heard recently in Skagit County Superior Court:
THEFT
A 39-year-old Concrete man was sentenced to eight months in jail after pleading guilty Monday to second-degree theft, reckless driving and third-degree retail theft.
According to court records, on Aug. 23, 2022, Zachary David Norman took alcohol from an Anacortes grocery store without paying for it and left in a vehicle.
When officers attempted to detain Norman, he fled in the vehicle. He swerved around stopped traffic in the oncoming lane before driving back over the median into the proper lane of travel.
The retail theft charge stems from a Feb. 17, 2025, incident in Burlington in which Norman took items from a store without paying for them.
CRIMINAL IMPERSONATION
A 32-year-old Mount Vernon woman was sentenced to 10 days in jail Monday after pleading guilty to criminal impersonation.
According to court records, on March 7, 2025, Amanda Marie Gentry provided a false name to law enforcement that was investigating a possible crime involving another person.
In exchange for her guilty plea, Gentry had a second charge dropped.
THEFT
A 67-year-old woman was sentenced to five days in jail Monday after pleading guilty to third-degree theft.
According to court records, on Dec. 6, 2025, Lorraine Gay Casteel and two others took items from a Mount Vernon grocery store without paying for them.
ASSAULT
A 35-year-old Mount Vernon man was sentenced to two days in jail after pleading guilty Monday to fourth-degree assault.
According to court records, on April 27, 2025, Cody Brendon Little assaulted a woman.
