Wenatchee, East Wenatchee councils to discuss 'homelessness plan' this evening

The East Wenatchee and Wenatchee city councils are scheduled to meet this evening for a special workshop on the "homelessness plan."

The joint workshop begins at 5:30 p.m. at Wenatchee City Hall council chambers, 301 Yakima St., Wenatchee.

The two councils will not take official action at the meeting. If the city of Wenatchee live streams the workshop, as it does regular meetings, it will be here: youtube.com/@WenatcheeTV/streams.

The cities currently contract with local nonprofits, including the Wenatchee Rescue Mission, to provide shelter services for homeless residents rather than operate shelters themselves.

The city of Wenatchee in January ended a contract with security company Allied Universal, which previously provided site monitoring for the rescue mission.

This year's Point-in-Time Count also recorded fewer homeless people in Chelan and Douglas counties than in 2025.
