Burbank man, 60, arrested on suspicion of shooting his roommate
A 60-year-old Burbank man was arrested in the investigation of first-degree assault with a deadly weapon and is suspected of shooting his roommate Sunday, May 24, said Walla Walla County Undersheriff Joe Klunt.
Klundt said the suspect and victim have been roommates for eight years. He said the shooting came after a verbal argument.
The victim was taken to Kadlec Medical Center in Richland.
“(He) had surgery and is expected to live,” Klundt said.
Formal charges have not yet been filed by the Walla Walla County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office. The Union-Bulletin does not usually name suspects until formal charges have been filed.
The suspect appeared Tuesday, May 26, in Walla Walla County Superior Court. The suspect’s wife was in court and told Superior Court Judge Brandon L. Johnson that she was hiring an attorney for her husband and was hoping to have that done Tuesday evening.
At Tuesday’s hearing, Walla Walla attorney Rob Olson represented the suspect.
Johnson asked several questions before ruling on bail. The suspect and victim have the same address, the medical condition of the victim and the status of other weapons that might be in the house were questions Johnson asked about.
Johnson set the next hearing for Wednesday, May 27, to address bail.
